What are affidavits? Affidavit form is a written document confirmed by oath by an affiant which is supposed to be used in court as evidence. Affidavits can be categorized into specific and nonspecific affidavits. Specified affidavits serve for specified tasks, however nonspecific affidavit form is a simple form where the oath is written and the details on which the oath is being taken can be different depending on where the form is being used.
Not all affidavits are used in courts. Some affidavits are used elsewhere too. However the most commonly used court and non-court affidavits are;
Such an affidavit is used to claim ownership on the wealth or property of a deceased person. This is usually used by the heirs of a deceased or by close relatives.
Such an affidavit is used to assert that that the services or document that were asked have been provided to the relevant authority
A relative or friend of yours living abroad can use an affidavit form to help you migrate to his country, claiming that he’s capable of supporting you.
The most commonly used affidavit by common people is name change affidavit. Such an affidavit is an assurance that the person has done so legally.
This type of affidavit, as the name suggests is used to inform court, business or some other authority about the death of a person.
Apart from these, there are plenty of other affidavits used for official as well as unofficial purposes. An affiant is required to sign the affidavit before presenting it anywhere as a proof. Since we’ve mentioned above that nonspecific affidavits can be used for any purpose. You can use these affidavit forms for specific as well as nonspecific purposes by making the necessary modification.
