As much as we think that writing a letter has long gone out of fashion, it still exists. Many people still write letters as a means of communication. In various organizations, companies and businesses, letters are still used to communicate both internally and externally. Many, when communicating use the formal tone of a letter whereas many use the informal one. In the business world, the formal mode of a letter is widely used. A formal letter can be differentiated as such that everything starts from the left hand side. The name of the receiver along with their address is written down and after leaving some space the date and after that the name and the address of the sender. The name and address of the sender isn’t really a necessity since it is usually put down on the envelope and salutations are followed by. Always remember that there should be the use of ‘respected so and so’ instead of ‘dear’. The latter one comes out as more of a casual tone. The use of first name when referring to the receiver is not appreciated. Mr. Ms. or Mrs. Should be used.
The letter often consists of three parts. The beginning, the body and the ending. The beginning should consist of the reason as to why a letter is being penned down, the body should consist of an elaboration of the reason mentioned in the beginning and the ending should consist of how the sender would be waiting for the receiver to reply back.
Yours sincerely followed by the name, three finger spaces for the signature and the name of the receiver penned down comes at the end of the letter.
